This 8 days Uganda gorilla tour starts and ends in Kampala. Get a chance to visit the western national parks starting from Lake Mburo National Park which sits on an area of 371 sq km with a big number of Zebras and other animals such as antelopes, warthogs, buffaloes, oribis and others seen along the lake shores like the hippos, crocodiles as well as birds (park has over 332 bird species).
You will also have the best experience in Kibale Forest National park famous for harboring 13 primate species including the chimpanzees, white and black colobus monkeys, the Queen Elizabeth national park for wildlife game drives, the tree climbing lions and the Kazinga channel. The 8 Days Uganda gorilla tour will also take you to the Switzerland of Uganda, the Bwindi impenetrable national park commonly known for the biggest portion of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas population plus many other animal species including the chimpanzees, monkeys, elephants and many species of Birds.
8 Days Uganda Gorilla Tour and Wildlife Itinerary Details
Day 1: Arrival in Kampala, Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park
As early as 7:00 am, our driver will pick you up from Kampala/Entebbe Airport to get on a scenic journey drive of 4-5 hours till we arrive in Lake Mburo National Park. Along the way, we will have a stopover at the drum makers center called Mpambire and another stopover at the Equator for memorable photographic moments. On arrival at the park, we will check in and have lunch at the lodge before an afternoon game drive experience in the park on the lookout for the different animals like the Zebras (very common) that are found almost everywhere in the park. Later in the evening head to the lodge for dinner and spend a night.

Day 2: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
On this second day of your 8 days Uganda gorilla tour, you will have breakfast as early as 6:00 am then take a scenic journey drive to Bwindi Forest National Park in the south, passing via Mbarara town which is endowed with beautiful landscapes, also you will see various rolling hills with terraces, it is such a great journey with all these sights. Upon reaching the park check in at the lodge of your choice and just relax there the whole evening as you get ready for the next day gorilla trekking activity in the misty rain forest and jungles of Uganda’s Switzerland.
Day 3: Gorilla Trekking Activity & Evening Community Walks
After breakfast very early in the morning, we will get transferred by our driver to the park headquarters (with our packed lunch and drinking water) to attend to a gorilla trekking briefing from the Park Rangers and by exactly 8:00 am, your trekking group of 8 persons, you will be accompanied by a trained English speaking guide to enter the misty rain forest searching for the mighty mountain gorillas. Since the gorilla trekking activity is strenuous and requires physical fitness levels, it is recommended that obtain a walking stick (available at the park quarters) and also budget for the fee you may pay the porters who will help you carry your luggage.
For about 2-8 hours, you will finally meet the gorillas and share your experience with them in just a maximum of one full hour. Read about the whole experience with the gorillas here. After the trekking, you will retire at the lodge to share experiences with other trekkers from different other gorilla groups and later in the evening take a cultural village walk in various communities such as in Batwa community where you will interact with them and learn a lot from them before dinner and overnight at the lodge.
Day 4: Transfer Queen Elizabeth, Tree Climbing Lions in Ishasha
Enjoy your breakfast and after transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park passing through the Ishasha sector which is home to tree climbing lions. The park has a variety of wildlife species such as elephants, buffaloes, waterbucks, lions, and many others. When you arrive, have lunch at the lodge and go for a late afternoon game drive where you will be able to see the above animals and many more together with birds before dinner and an Overnight at the lodge.
Day 5: Game Drive in Queen Elizabeth, Kazinga Channel Boat Rides
After breakfast, the fifth day of your 8 Days Uganda gorilla tour will take you for an early morning game drive in the savannah plains of Queen Elizabeth national park to have a chance of seeing the morning risers like the lions and leopards chasing after their prey, the solitary buffaloes, kobs, elephants, etc. It is such a great and exciting time as you can easily see these animals closely.
Later in the day, you will retire at the lodge for lunch and get prepared for the scenic boat trip along the Kazinga Channel which is home to various species like birds such as malachite kingfishers, pink-backed pelicans, and animals like crocodiles, elephants, hippos and many more. Basically cruising on the Kazinga is one of the most eye-catching activities in the park. Have Dinner and Overnight at your lodge in the park.
Day 6: Transfer to Kibale National Park
Wake up to a tasty early breakfast in the morning and get on for a morning game drive with an exceptional visit to the baboon cliffs where you will be introduced to amazing and beautiful sceneries in Uganda the Pearl of Africa. After lunch, you will take a 2-3 hours journey northwards to reach Kibale forest national park which is home to Chimpanzees. On arrival in the evening hours, check in at the lodge and have dinner, then take your day’s rest as you get ready for the chimpanzee tracking experience the next day of your Uganda gorilla tour experience in Uganda.
Day 7: Chimpanzee Trekking, Nature Walks in Bigodi Wetland
You should by now see that this is your second last day of the 8 Days Uganda gorilla tour. On this day, after having breakfast in the morning, you will leave the lodge and get transferred to the park headquarters where you will be briefed about chimpanzee trekking activity. The actual trek in search for the chimpanzees starts at about 8:00 am and in 4-5 hours of search, you will finally meet the chimpanzees.
Nothing is as amazing on this chimpanzee day tour as having time with the chimpanzees in their natural habitat. You will also see other primates like golden monkeys, grey checked Mangabeys, LHoests monkeys, bush babies, among others; you will also spot a number of birds. After trekking, return and have lunch at the lodge and go for a walk in the Bigodi wetland in the afternoon. You will meet different people that stay there also will see different birds like the Great Blue Turaco and more primates like the bush pigs, otters, baboons among others.
Day 8: Transfer Back to Kampala
After having breakfast in the morning, start your journey back to Kampala via Mubende where you will be in line to see beautiful scenic views found in this area. With a stopover in Mubende, you will have lunch and thereafter continue to Kampala. Your driver guide will either leave you at your hotel in Kampala or take you to the Airport in Entebbe just in case you are having your flight back home.
