Safari Itinerary for the 5 Days Rwanda Gorilla Trekking Safari

Day 1: Arrival, Kigali Genocide Memorial, Transfer to Volcanoes national park

On arrival at the airport, our guide will be waiting to receive you and after a review of your travel documents and tour briefing by the guide, we shall start our 5 Days Rwanda Gorilla Trekking tour with a trip to the Kigali Genocide Memorial center referred to as the general exhibition ground of genocide in Rwanda the only place where you will have a top-notch narration of the historical Rwanda genocide of 1994, gazing at the catalogs of the genocide displayed in wall photographs, videos, and written accounts plus a range of artifacts, personal testimonies of the whole 1994 genocide. From here, you will have lunch in one of the local restaurants to have a taste of the Rwanda typical local dish then drive to the Volcanoes National Park in Ruhengeri for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Rwanda Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes national park

On the second day, you wake up to a tasty breakfast very early in the morning, then transfer to the park headquarters to assemble for the gorilla trekking briefing from the park rangers. The briefing allows you to learn the Dos and Don’ts of the adventure, how to conduct yourself while in the jungle, and also get to know which gorilla family you will visit. By 8:00 am, you will eventually begin your gorilla trek hiking into the jungle.

5 Days Rwanda Gorilla Trekking

The adventurous gorilla trekking experience in the Volcanoes takes you in the misty and cool breezes of the Volcanoes National Park as you search for these amazing creatures. Once you locate the gorilla family on your trekking list, you will spend up to one hour with them observing how they play, feed, protect and guard each other whilst taking photographs for your memories. Always ensure to ensure that you maintain a distance of 7 meters away from the gorillas.

Please Note: You are advised to take along a porter to help with your day pack and some of your gadgets, it is easy to think that you do not need one but they can be helpful if the gorillas nested further away from your starting point.

Day 3: Optional Activities: Second Gorilla Trek / Golden Monkey Tracking

On your third day, you can choose to go for another day of gorilla trekking to exhaust your anxiety of the different gorilla families. By so doing, get a chance to track while identifying each gorilla by name in the gorilla group to the maximum that at the end of the day you can be able to know their differences and what brings such between the tracked groups. You can optionally go for the golden monkey trekking in the Volcanoes National Park. Enjoy a bush or forest lunch before returning to the Lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Dian Fossey Hike Tour

Fourth Day of the 5 Days Rwanda Gorilla Trekking Safari! After having breakfast, you will hike to the trails leading you to the graveyard where the late Dian Fossey was laid to rest. Fossey was an American Primatologist and the first Gorilla Hero of Africa.  Here, you will get to learn about her heroic works and endless struggle efforts she had towards the gorilla lifestyle, and if possible you can even grab your copy of Gorillas in the mist a natural move based on the natural beauty of Africa rainy forests. Later have a free leisure break dinner and overnight at your lodge.

Day 4: Departure to Kigali, Airport

After breakfast early in the morning, you will also take a 2-hours-drive back to Kigali with drop-offs at the Airport or a  preferred hotel destination.
