DETAILED ITINERARY FOR THE 3 DAYS RWANDA GORILLA SAFARI

DAY 1: TRANSFER TO VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK

On arrival in Rwanda, you will be welcomed by our driver-guide waiting for you at the airport who will transfer you northwards to Volcanoes national park in Musanze, home to over 350 Mountain Gorillas. Dinner and overnight: Up Market : Mountain Gorilla View lodge, Mid – range : Le’bambou gorilla lodge, Budget : Kinigi Guesthouse, Meal plan : Lunch and Dinner

DAY 2: MOUNTAIN GORILLA TREKKING IN VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK

Primate trekking in RwandaEarly in the morning, you will take your breakfast and transfer to Kinigi park headquarters for a briefing about gorilla trekking from the park official(s). After, you will be allocated to a specific gorilla group basing on your physical abilities and fitness levels. At exactly 8:00 am, all visitors will be transferred to respective starting points to commence on the gorilla trekking adventure. Usually, gorilla trekking lasts for 1 hours to 6 hours to meet the gorillas as they keep moving from one point to another. You will spend a full hour with the gorillas while taking photographs as well as learning more about their enchanting behaviours. After the gorilla trekk, you will be transfered to the lodge, have lunch and get ready for the next activity for the day.

In the afternoon, you will spend your time at the Iby’iwacu Cultural Village for unique cultural experiences and entertainment by the locals. Take an evening transfer from here to reach Lake Kivu where you will stay for dinner and overnight enjoying the exhilarating views of the Nyiragongo Volcano in DR Congo.

DAY 3: KIGALI CITY TOUR & DEPARTURE

After breakfast, your driver-guide will transfer you back to Kigali. Depending on your travel plans and flight schedules, you may wish to go for a short city tour experience in Kigali, visit the Gisozi Genocide Memorial Site and the local crafts market to purchase some souvenirs, then proceed to the airport for your departure flight.

How to Obtain a Rwanda Visa

Obtaining Rwanda Gorilla Permits

A gorilla permit is a must have for Rwanda gorilla safaris without which no one is allowed to meet with the gorillas. Due to the high demand for the permits, travelers are required to book as early as six months prior to the trekking date.
