The lodge is set on the slopes of the Volcanic mountains that make up Rwanda’s famous Volcanoes National Park and only a short drive from its entrance gate. The lodge is sensitively designed and built using local sustainable resources and it has 30 cottages that are well spaced from each other and come complete with fire places and ensuite bath rooms. The views from the lodge as well as your room are so amazing, rugged forest covered mountains steaming with mist and mystery. You are able to see birds and monkeys in the gardens as you saunter around and soak up the scenery. There is daily performance of traditional Rwandan song and dance adds to the uniquely African atmosphere.

The accommodation facilities
Standard cottages
The accommodation at mountain gorilla view lodge comes in form of 30 stone and thatch cottages, well-spaced apart for privacy and dazzling views as soon as you go outside onto their verandas. They are spacious and comfortably furnished cottages which have a small lounge with a tea and coffee station plus a fire place that is ignited for you on your return from what might have been a cold and wet day trekking for gorillas. Each cottage has got an en suite bathroom with a basin, shower and flush toilet plus a hair dryer and free toiletry.
Facilities
The lodge’s central area is home to a restaurant and bar as well as a large lounge that is split into three seating areas. There are low reed ceilings; comfortable seating, floor rug and a roaring log fire all give the main building a self-serving atmosphere in keeping with the friendly and informal nature of the lodge. There is also a seating area around a fire pit that is ideal for swapping gorilla stories and the extensive gardens full of wildlife. Each night guests are treated to a display of Rwandan song and dance, put up by the local community.
Mountain Gorilla view lodge runs on main electricity with a generator back up, ensuring you can recharge your camera batteries and devices after a day in the rain forest.
Dining
The meals at mountain gorilla view lodge are served buffet or la carte, depending on guest numbers at the lodge. Dining is at individual tables with room service available if required. The day starts with breakfast buffet with both cooked and continental options. Lunch is a la carte affair with choices like the quiche with fresh, locally grown vegetables and salad. Dinner is a 3 course buffet starting with pumpkin soup followed by grilled chicken with a traditional Rwandan vegetable stew, cakes, fruits and chocolate.
