Kwita Izina is an annual Rwandan ceremony of naming newborn baby gorillas that happens each year in September. The event is named after the ancestral baby naming ceremony that happened after the birth of a newborn.

[/cz_title]On the second day of your Kwita Izina tour package, wake up early to a morning breakfast with a cup of coffee, then depart off to Akagera National Park located eastwards of Rwanda. On arrival, you will check in at either Akagera Game Lodge or Ruzizi tented camp before a short game drive in the park. Afterward, you will enjoy a delicious lunch meal at the lodge/camp and later go for a Boat ride on Lake Ihema where you will have the chance to see one of the many large resident Nile crocodiles and listen to the call of the Fish Eagle at the Bird Island. Retire for dinner and overnight at your booked accommodation place.
Day 4: 3rd Sept 2019 Nyungwe Canopy Walk
[/cz_title]Early in the morning after breakfast in Kigali, you will transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park for a canopy walk in the South-western region of Rwanda. Enjoy a scenic drive through the Cultural Heritage centers of Rwanda with stopovers at King Royal Palace museum, standing today as it did when the King was in residence along with the ‘Inyambo’, traditional Rwandan cows known for their impressive longhorns. On arrival at the park, we check in for accommodation and then proceed for the one and only canopy walk in East Africa standing at a height of over 50 meters, with spanning three bridges a lengthy route of over 160 meters. The canopy walk gives you a bird’s eye view experience of the spectacular tropical rain-forest canopy from a new perspective.
Day 6: Transfer to Volcanoes NP
[/cz_title]Wake up to a morning tasty breakfast prepared by the locals and take on a boat ride cruising on the cool breeze of Lake Muhazi before returning to prepare for a scenic journey taking you to Rwanda’s home of the mountain gorillas, the Volcanoes National Park located in Musanze district north of Rwanda. We arrive at kinigi the park headquarters for check-in and registration of our presence for the Kwita Izina 2019 event before enjoying dinner and overnight at either Mountain gorilla view Lodge (High end) or La Palme hotel (Midrange hotel).
Day 8: Mountain Gorilla Trekking
[/cz_title]Early in the morning, we drive to assemble again at Kinigi the park headquarters this time for an enchanting gorilla trekking adventure in the Volcanoes National Park. Immediately after an insightful briefing form the park officials and park rangers, we begin the hike into the jungles of the misty thick forests of Volcanoes National park in search for the mountain gorillas. On meeting them we shall have an exciting one hour with them before eventually transferring to Kigali in the late afternoon. Dinner and overnight at a hotel of your preference in Kigali. We recommend Kigali Marriot (luxury), Chez Lando (Mid-range).

If you arrive early enough, you may go for a brief city tour of Kigali City visiting several local markets, genocide memorial sites and the craftsman centers of Rwanda to explore the art and creativity of the Rwandan people. Day 3: Game Drive in Akagera NP
[/cz_title]Day Three of your Kwita Izina tour package will take you for an early morning game drive in Rwanda’s largest National park in Rwanda, the Akagera National Park which is featured with acacia woodlands, Savannah grasslands, and over 450 bird species. The Akagera River feeds a labyrinth of lakes and papyrus swamps making it the largest protected wetland in Central Africa with one of the highest concentrations of hippopotamus in Africa. The introduction of Lions and Rhinos, have added this park to be one of the few Big Five Safari destinations in Africa. The morning game drive introduces us to the early risers that run throughout the park chasing after prey before they hide back into their caves. In the afternoon after lunch, we drive back to Kigali for Overnight at Serena Hotel (High end), Chez Lando (Midrange hotel)
Day 5: Nyungwe Chimpanzee Trekking
[/cz_title]Your 5th Day of this tour package will now bring you closer to the Kwita Izina event with only one day left. Today, you will in the morning have breakfast and go for a Chimpanzee trekking activity in Rwanda,s largest montane forest, the Nyungwe Forest. Time spent with the chimps will give you a satisfaction that they are indeed man’s closest cousin from the primates world. The trek also introduces you to the other primates of the forest (over 13 of them) notable of which include the colobus monkeys, reptiles, bird species, among others. You will after the trek be transferred to Karongi, one of the most relaxing places in Rwanda, an ideal place to enjoy lakeside recreation. Later in the evening, have dinner and overnight stay in Kibuye at Cormoran Hotel (High end) or Bethany Hotel (Midrange hotel).
Day 7: The Kwita Izina Ceremony

Launched in 2005, Kwita Izina, a uniquely Rwandan event, is not only a celebration of newly born mountain gorilla babies but also serves to raise awareness of the importance of the protection of species and their habitats at the community, national and international levels. In the evening, enjoy an exciting camping trip at the Red Rocks Community Camp enjoying beer brewing, basket weaving, music, and food tasting experiences.
Day 9: Kigali City Tour, Flight Departure
[/cz_title]After the breakfast in the city, you may opt for a city tour to the local markets in Kigali; Notably the Kimironko fruit market, Nyamirambo women’s center, the Art and crafts centers for an impressive souvenir shopping and experience with the Rwandan people. You may also go for a cultural tour visiting Rwanda’s genocide memorial center in Gisozi, 14 kilometers away from Kigali for narration about the tragic 1994 genocide that claimed over 900,000 people in Rwanda.
