Detailed Itinerary.
Day 1: Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park.
A delightfully organised safari starts at 8:00 am, when your guide will take you in the direction of northern Uganda. En route, you’ll stop for lunch in Masindi town before continuing on to the Murchison Falls National Park. As you are driven through the cool Budongo forest upon entering the park, you will start to see a variety of birds, monkeys, and baboons. a chance to take in the breathtaking views of the top of the falls before proceeding to your hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2: Morning Game Drive – Afternoon Boat Cruise.
Have breakfast before leaving for a three- to four-hour morning game drive, which starts at 0630 hours. Giraffes, Lions, Elephants, Oribi, Bushbuck, Bohor reedbuck, hyenas, and, with luck, leopards can all be seen in this manner. Later, have a substantial breakfast, relax, and have lunch back at the resort. After that, set off at 13:45 for a three-hour boat ride that will take you to the base of the falls, where you may see even more wildlife and birds. Later, have dinner and spend the night at your lodge.
Day 3: Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park.
Drive out of the resort to catch the first morning after breakfast. After leaving the ferry at 07:00 hours, travel 342 km (9 hours) to the Kibale Forest National Park. En route, you will pass through the villages of Hoima, stopping at the Hoima Kolping hotel for a packed lunch. From there, you will go to the lodge in the Kibale National Park, where you will check in and spend the night later in the afternoon.
Day 4: Chimpanzee Tracking Experience – Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park
Get up early, have breakfast and head out to the park headquarters for briefing from officials of the Uganda Wildlife Authority. They will then assign you a ranger guide with whom you will enter the forest in search of the chimpanzees. Once you find them you will be allowed up to one hour with them for observation and photography.
Head back to the lodge for lunch, and then check out of the lodge and get on the road to Queen Elizabeth National Park. Upon arrival, take a boat ride along the Kazinga Channel at 4:00PM after which you will head to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 5: Morning Game Drive – Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
Start your day with a cup of coffee at 6:30 a.m. before heading out on a wildlife drive to the Kasenyi area, where a variety of mammals, including spotted hyenas, Uganda Kobs, bush bucks, baboons, lions, leopards, and buffalo, graze on an open savannah. Once you’ve taken in the wide variety of bird life, return for a filling breakfast and continue on to Bwindi Forest National Park, where you’ll arrive in time for dinner and a comfortable night.
Day 6: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
Breakfast will be served to you at 07:15, and your guide will take you to the briefing area so you can have a briefing at 8 a.m. before entering the forest to start gorilla trekking. After that, the guides will lead you through the bush, where you will have to push through dense undergrowth and part thick creepers in order to track the gorillas. The guide will instruct you to stand seven metres away from the gorillas and ask you to turn off your camera’s flash when the primates are detected.
After a tiring day of travel, you will recuperate for a few hours at your lodging before joining a guided village walk in the afternoon to discover how the local residents around Bwindi Park profit from tourists. This is a great little stroll. This trail is lined with numerous bird species, Bwindi’s vibrant display of butterflies, coffee, tea, and potato crops. When you head back to your hotel for dinner and meet with your guide to discuss the schedule for the following day, the tour will officially conclude. You can then head home for the night.
Day 7: Return to Kampala – Departure.
After breakfast, an early departure at 7:00 am from Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. There will be lunch on the way. If you want to buy souvenirs, you can make a stop in Equator before continuing to Kampala if you’re staying here, or to Entebbe in case you have to take a flight home.
