During this 4 Days Uganda Bird Watching Tour, you will go bird watching in the Murchison Falls National Park, which is home to a diverse range of birds due to its protection of over 650 species. Observe birds such as the marabou stork, the open-billed stork, secretary birds, black-bellied bustards, widow birds, wheatears, bishops, and weavers; black bee-eater, red-throated bee-eater, swallow-tailed bee-eater, woodland king fisher; francolins, hornbills, grey heron, hamerkop; doves, mouse birds; shrikes, flycatchers, cuckoos, coucals, woodpeckers, crombecs, and warblers. Ducks, geese, stilts, and plovers can also be found in the vicinity of the river.
Detailed Itinerary.
Day 1: Visit Mabamba Swamp – Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park
You will depart early on this day and travel to the Mabamba Swamp, which is 50 km west of Kampala. There, you will see a variety of bird species, including the remarkable shoebill stork, the Western Banded Snake Eagle, the White Winged Warbler, and the White Shouldered Tit. Numerous more species that you are probably familiar with can be found in the swamp, such as the migratory blue swallow, the globally threatened Pallid Harrier, the Allen’s and Purple Gallinule, the Rufous Bellied Heron, Grey Herons, Squaco, Purple, and Goliath Heron, etc.
Later transfer to Murchison Falls National Park, with lunch in Masindi town. Proceed to the park and arrive in the evening in time for dinner and staying overnight.

Day 2: Bird Watching in Budongo Forest
After breakfast, you’ll head to Budongo Forest with your packed lunch in hand. Once there, you’ll go bird watching along the Royal Mile, which is a truly amazing location with a forest canopy over you. Great Blue and Black Billed Turaco, Dusy Long Tailed Cuckoo, Spotted, Plain, Slender Billed, White Throated, Little Grey and Little Green bul, and many more birds can be seen in the forest, which has excellent trail systems. Notable birds seen there include the Chestnut-capped Flycatcher, Blue-throated Roller, excessively noisy White-thighed Hornbill, the Nahan’s Francolin, beautiful Cassin’s and Sabine’s Spine tail, Forest Flycatcher, Ituri Batis, Lemon Bellied Crombec, Tit Hylia, Uganda Woodland Warbler, Forest Robin, Yellow Billed, Grey Throated, Hairy Breasted and Yellow Spotted Barbet. Day 3: Birding in the Northern Side of Murchison Falls
Get up early, prepare breakfast and a packed lunch, take a boat ride to the base of the falls, and go on a game drive to the delta. Keep an eye out for birds such as the shoebill stork, which on a fortunate day can be seen along with the Red-throated and Northern Carmine Bee-eater. Mammals such as giraffes, Cape buffalo, elephants, waterbuck, and many more can be spotted. The African Open-billed and Yellow-billed Storks, Hauglins Francolin, Senegal Thick-knee, Rock Pratincole, Giant, Woodland, Grey-Headed, and Malchite are more birds to watch out for.
Look out for the following animals during the game drive: enormous Abyssinian Ground Hornbills, Black Winged and Northern Red Bishops, Chestnut Crowned and the White Browed Sparrow Weaver, Abyssinian Rollers, Swallow-tailed, Little Bee-eaters, and many more. Go back to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Return to Kampala – Departure.
After enjoying a sumptuous breakfast, get ready for your transfer to Kampala. En route, make sure to visit the top of the falls to witness the breathtaking vistas of the water thundering through the slender valley. Travel to Kampala, stopping for lunch along the way to see birds. You will be dropped off at the airport in the evening so you can catch your flight home.
