Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival at Bujumbura

You will have a half day tour in Bujumbura for a cultural safari. Then visit Rusizi National Park for a possible boat cruise in Rusizi river for wildlife views like Hippos, birds and the joining point between Rusizi River and Lake Tanganyika. Proceed for rewards of the belvedere hikes offering a beautiful view of Bujumbua city and the independence hero monument. You will also visit explorer’s memorial, a huge rock in the suburbs of Bujumbura commemorating the meeting between Stanley and Livingstone. Overnight at club du Lac Tanganyika Hotel.

Day 2: Have waterfalls tour in Burundi; Visit the source of the Nile/ waterfalls

Have breakfast and then head to the source of the Nile, near the Karera falls. You will enjoy the magnificent tea plantations and admire the scenic land scape. Later, visit the water falls and after, drive to Gitege town the second town and colonial capital of Burundi. You will also visit Gitega national Museum with its collection of art crafts, Gitega city administrative offices, catholic location of Mushasha and its different local schools. Overnight at Orange or Helena Hotel.

Day 3: Gitega- Gishora tour

Have breakfast and then visit the famous drum sanctuary site of Gishora- Gishora in Burundi. The site also houses two ritual drums that were never beaten. The Ruciteme and Murimirwa respectively. These two names are linked to the farming vocation and also refer to fertility in the local language, the king’s features. You will after visit the drum sanctuary of Gishora to explore the cultural tradition of Burundi. Have lunch at Gitega and after take a city tour around Gitega the second largest town of the country, with much colonial architecture which hosts thye national museum with its ethnographic and archeological collections. Later, have lunch and drive to Bujumbura. Overnight at Club du lac Hotel.

Day 4: Airport transfer and departure

Have breakfast and then proceed to the Airport for flight connections back home.
