Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Travel from Kampala to Kasese.

After breakfast, your driver or guide will pick you up to start your trip to Mount Rwenzori with a stop in Fort Portal for lunch. You will then continue on to Mountain Rwenzori with a stopover in Fort Portal for lunch before heading to your reserved lodging for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Hiking to Nyakalengija Hut

To begin your ascent of the fabled mountain, head to Nyakalengeja first thing in the morning. Travelling through dense equatorial vegetation and beside the serene Mubuku River, you will reach the elevation of 2650 metres at the Nyabitaba resort. You might see some primates, such blue monkeys. Stay at the Nyabitaba hut and eat.

Day 3: Hiking to John Matte Hut.

You rise early, eat breakfast, and head past the Kurt Shaffer Bridge to the magnificent Mubuku confluence. After lunch, you will arrive at the Nyamuleju hut, from which you can enjoy a stunning view of the Mountain Stanley and Mountain Speke peaks. Go up through the lobelia, open spaces, and heath-moss woods before spending the night in the John Matte cabin, which is located at 3415 metres above sea level.

Day 4: Hiking to Bujuku Hut.

Get out of the mountain valley and take in the breathtaking Alpine landscape, which features a sizable ( 4890 metres). Admire the magnificent views of the Savoia and Elena glaciers as you rise. Trek to the Scenic Scott- Elliott and hike through the snow-covered mountains to the Elena chalet, from which you will begin your ascent to the Ascent Alps the following day.

Day 5: Hiking to Elena Hut.

Leave the mountain Valley, which has lovely views of Alpine vegetation at a height of 4890 meters. Ascend past the stunning Savoia and Elena glaciers; continue on to the picturesque Scott- Elliott; and go through the alpine snow to the Elena Hut at 4560 meters for dinner and the night. At the Elena Hut, you will establish your base from which you will start your ascent of the Ascent Alps the following day.

Day 6: Hiking to Ascent – Alps.

The mountain’s highest peak, the famed Marguerites at 5109 meters, is reached after a very early morning ascent to the ice Alexander peak at 5092 meters. From there, we will make our way down to the charming lake Kitandara, where we will spend the night at the 4020-meter Kitandara house.

Day 7: Hiking to Gut Yeoman Hut.

Early in the morning, after a leisurely breakfast, you will begin your descent. First, we go to the New Field Pass from Lake Kitandara, which offers a breathtaking view of the neighbouring country of Congo. After a hearty picnic lunch, descend to the Guy Yeoman cabin at 3260 metres for the evening and overnight stay.

Day 8: Hike to Nyabitaba Hut.

The last section of our hike will be today! To rejoin the original route next to the river Bujuku, descend steeply along the river Mubuku. Eat and sleep at the 2650-meter-high Nyabitaba Hut.

Day 9: Transfer to Kasese.

You take a two- to three-hour drive to Nyakalengija right after breakfast. You next proceed to Kasese where you check into the Hotel Margherita. Here, you may unwind and reflect on your exciting climb to the highest peak in Uganda. Stay and dine at the Hotel Margherita.

Day 10: Departure.

You will bid farewell to the mountains of the moon as soon as you finish your morning tea and head back to Kampala with unforgettable experiences from your mountain trekking adventure in Uganda. Next, make your way to Entebbe International Airport in order to board your departure flight.
